A group of tertiary students was responsible for the design and operation of the fair stall.
Mr Raymond Tam and Mr Jeffrey Lam were captivated by the Linking Horse and Macaron-shaped cushions.
Dr Lo Wai-kwok felt that the plushy soft cushion and colourful iPad case made ideal New Year gifts for his grandson.
Mr Raymond Tam, Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, presented a certificate and a cash prize of $5,000 to the student whose design of the Linking Horse cushion won the New Year Fair Product Design Competition.
Mr Lai Tung-kwok, Secretary for Security, presented a certificate and a cash prize of $3,000 to the Competition’s 1st runner-up, whose product design was an iPad case for the Year of the Horse.
Mr Andrew Leung, BPA Chairman, presented a certificate and a prize of $2,000 to the 2nd runner-up of the competition, whose design was a Macaron-shaped cushion.
Awardees were excited at seeing the actual product of their designs for the first time at the ceremony.
Competition judges, Mr Andrew Leung, BPA Chairman, Mr Kevin Ho, BPA CEO, Mr Douglas Young, Founder of G.O.D and Mr Terence Wong, Deputy Head, Department of Communication Design and Digital Media, Hong Kong Design Institute, had previously selected the winning products.
