BPA welcomes a review of milk powder limits in 6 months

The Business and Professionals Alliance for Hong Kong (BPA) today (April 18) welcomed the Government’s adoption of the Alliance’s proposal under which the Government will review the “milk powder export ban” in six months time. The Alliance believed that by shortening the review schedule from one year to six months after the implementation of the restrictions, the Government and milk powder suppliers will be able to perfect the distribution logistics and can also minimise the impact of the restrictions on Hong Kong’s reputation as a free port.

The Alliance also urged the Government to take appropriate administrative measures to reduce the disturbances caused by cross-boundary day-trippers to the local residents. Provided that the local community’s needs are safeguarded and that the supply has stablised, the Government should endeavour to remove the restrictions as soon as possible.
