President, I speak to supplement the content of speeches made by my colleagues of the Business and Professionals Alliance for Hong Kong. Today in this Council, we have heard very clearly that bid-rigging is a very serious problem, and the community also thinks that the Government should do more to solve the problem.

It was pointed out by Mr Jeffrey LAM yesterday that the slogan of the Business and Professionals Alliance for Hong Kong (BPA) was “drive forward Hong Kong’s economy through commercial and industrial development and help improve people’s livelihood through our professionalism”, whereas “developing the economy and improving people’s livelihood” is its belief.

Speech – Implementation and continuance of ‘one country, two systems’ (Andrew Leung)

President, the “one country, two systems” principle, formulated by our country’s late leader, DENG Xiaoping in the 80s, is not only forward-looking, but also rational and practical. Under the premise of Hong Kong’s return to the Motherland, the principle has a stabilizing effect on Hong Kong people’s confidence in the future. It has been almost 18 years since Hong Kong’s reunification.
