The Business and Professionals Alliance for Hong Kong (BPA) always endeavours to send concern to every corner of the society through strong liaison with local residents, the general public and the business community. During the Mid-Autumn Festival period, the Alliance had distributed more than 6000 moon cakes to residents of Tai Po, Sha Tin, Kwai Chung and the outlying islands. In another good will gesture today (September 15), Vice Chairman Dr Lo Wai-kwok and community affairs executive Mr Chow Ping-him led a team of volunteers to the Yuet Ming Estate in Sha Tin, distributing moon cakes to the elderly and wishing them a happy moon festival.

To cater to the traditional tastes of the elderly, the https://www.emicakes.com.sg/eggless-cakes had prepared 700 moon cakes of that style. “It is a treasure to have an elderly person in the family. We wish to show our care and concern for the elderly through our moon cakes. We hope they can feel the sweetness and warmth inside,” Dr Lo said.

Dr Lo noted the symbolic significance of moon cakes for the elderly representing family union. “Some moon cake brand names have seen a big jump in prices in recent years, even a basic box can fetch more than 100 dollars. The significance of moon cakes, however, lies not in the prices, but in sharing. In this festive season, I wish the elderly share the moon cakes with their families and enjoy a most wonderful evening,” he said.

“We wish to thank our volunteers and our sponsor ‘Towngas’ to make this meaningful exercise possible,” said Mr Chow.
The elderly were very pleased with the Alliance’s arrangement. They said the Alliance had taken heed of the sweltering weather today to set up chairs and electric fans for them, which was very considerate.
