BPA Opens Smart Green Workshop on Turning Food Waste into Food Wise

Over three thousand tonnes of food waste are dumped into the landfills every day. This combined with low recycling rates mean that our landfills will reach capacity very soon. In order to tackle the problem of food waste at its main source, households, the Business and Professional Alliance for Hong Kong (BPA) cooperated with green groups, businesses and schools to promote in families the concept of “Food Wise” by organising “The BPA Smart Green Workshop” during the Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo (HKBPE).

Dr Peter Lam, BPA Council Chairman, Responds to the Clearance of the Occupy Central Protest Sites

With the police removal of barricades at Admiralty close to being completed, this marks the closure of the illegal Occupy Central movement. Dr Peter Lam Kin-ngok, Council Chairman of the Business and Professionals Alliance for Hong Kong (BPA), said on December 12 that the movement was driven mainly by social discontent, especially among the younger generation who were unhappy with their current status and grim prospects. Although he condemned the Occupy Movement, Dr Lam also called on the government and society to think of ways to resolve the problems faced by our youths. He suggested that social reconciliation should be one of the core undertakings going forward.

BPA Urges Protesters Against Defying Public Opinion

The civil disobedience movement that has lasted for more than two months is finally over. In abiding with the general public’s wish to restore social order, police assisted bailiffs in executing injunction orders to clear obstacles at the protest sites. BPA Urges Collaboration by All Parties to Resolve Post-Occupy Movement Issues

Today (11 December), the police has removed almost all of the barricades that were obstructing major roads around Admiralty. Mr Andrew Leung Kwan-yuen, Chairman of the Business and Professionals Alliance for Hong Kong (BPA), said the operation to clear the protest site has proceeded smoothly and peacefully due to the restraint displayed by all parties concerned. He said, “The law enforcement measures carried out by officers today were made in an efficient and professional manner. The lack of resistance from protesters was also encouraging.”

BPA Calls on Wayward Protesters to Go Home

Mr Benny Tai Yiu-ting, the Reverend Chu Yiu-ming and Dr Chan Kin-man, co-founders of the Occupy Central movement, were joined by other protesters today (December 3) in surrendering themselves to the Police for having participated in an unauthorized assembly. The Business and Professionals Alliances for Hong Kong (BPA) takes this opportunity to urge all protesters to come to their senses and return home as soon as possible.
